LEADERS REGISTER HERE

Amersham Churches Holiday Club cannot function without our wonderful team of volunteers. There are many ways in which you can help us provide the best possible week for our children to learn more about Jesus and take their first steps towards a lifelong faith. Below is a list of roles which we need to fill – please take a look through and then give us an indication of which roles might suit you best in your application form.

Most roles do not require you to take on any preparation work prior to holiday club. All the sessions are led by a few key people who will have everything organised prior to the event. Group leader roles and assistant roles are there to look after the children and help them join in as much as possible. It’s not that scary! You will need to be 18 to be a group leader (but under 18’s can have just as much fun as assistants!) and all over 16’s will need to obtain a DBS certificate prior to 22 August.

Volunteer Roles:

Looking after children…

Group leaders and Assistant leaders:

To chaperone groups of up to 8 children within age group bands as they go around the various activities. Be a mentor, befriender, motivator and facilitate engagement. No session planning required. Assistant leaders  support the Group Leader

Creche Leader and Assistants:

To provide a safe and fun environment for pre-school leader children during holiday club, keeping them entertained, fed and supported during holiday club. Ensure crèche area left clean and tidy each day. The crèche is ONLY for leader children so numbers are not usually very large. King’s church has a dedicated crèche area so plenty for children to play with.

Keeping the wheels in motion…

Reception Leader and Assistants:

To provide cover on the main reception.

Manage system of checking children in and out safely.

Be point of contact for getting first Aid support quickly.

Manning the main entrance to ensure nobody enters the building without identification.

Be a point of contact for parents.

The Reception leader will need to coordinate the team and take ultimate responsibility.

Refreshment Team Leader and Assistants:

provide drinks and biscuits twice daily to all children’s groups in the designated refreshment areas.

To recruit cake makers and  plan the provision of tea and cakes to parents on the last afternoon at the end.

Helping with Activities…

Sports Team Assistants:

To support the Sports Leader in providing the daily sports sessions (4 per day) to the children in the age groups, encouraging children to participate as much as possible. These are usually informal games such as Pineapple and dodgeball.

Craft Assistants:

To assist the leader in planning and prepping the craft sessions prior to Holiday Club. During Holiday Club, to take the lead for a table(one group) of children, demonstrate the craft and assist the children and group leaders/assistants to complete the craft in the allotted time.

Football Helpers:

To support the Football leaders in delivering the planned session, helping the children to engage and join in. Some basic knowledge  and ability of football and its rules would be useful!

Drama Lead and Assistant:

To plan, lead and resource the daily drama sessions (4 per day) following the themes delivered Upfront each day.

Cookery Leader and Assistants:

To plan, resource and lead 4 cookery sessions (35 minutes long) across the week for the early years age children. Ensure area is tidy and clean afterwards.

Up front Team: 

To deliver the main stage presentation twice daily  with a pre-planned scripted programme. Must be available for rehearsals prior to Holiday Club.

For the more theatrically and technically minded…

Staging and Prop team:

To work with the Script Writer during the run up to Holiday Club to design and create suitable props, source them and ensure they are laid out and stored appropriately each day.

PA and Lighting Team:

To take control of the PA and Lighting systems ensuring its function daily for main stage sessions at the beginning of the morning and afternoon and last session.
